i love love love the play "a midsummer night's dream". the story, the scenery, the time of year, the author, etc... i think of twinkling stars, muted dusk, mossy trees, forest animals, the scent of lavender, glistening ponds, flowing dresses, and ethereal-ly long wavy hair.
being as today is the summer solstice i did a little googling on the matter and came across the 1935 film production of "a midsummer nights dream". apparently the director, max reinhardt, and i had (have?) the same little bug in our brains as the images i found were pretty much exactly how my swimming little head has always pictured it to be. much lovelier than the home video of the play that i saw in high school-although i still couldn't help but love the play. i just really thought i could style it a lot better. just saying.
i can stop fretting now though. apparently my version was done 76 years ago. ding dong.
oh, and mickey rooney was in it. and james cagney. i live under a rock.

i wish people still made stuff like this.
oh! right, the whole purpose of looking up solstice imagery was to let everyone know that we are having a sale to celebrate one of our favorite times of year.
