when i was 15? 23? 31?
ever since i had my first little nudge towards fashion, sweet little doll type dresses have been my favorite. (clarification: victorian type-ish. not so much the triple ruffled pink satin type.) i would always see cute little toddlers in pleated, smocked dresses, with tights and patent leather shoes and wonder why on earth they got all the cute stuff.
my envy only increased when i had two little girls of my own and would find the perfect dress for me, about 14 sizes to small, in the infants section.
i don't particularly want to look like an infant. like, i would ditch the bonnets and such, but a sweet linen, cotton, or wool, mid thigh, nicely smocked dress with black tights and black mary janes? yes please.
i do currently have one from the shop that i love love love and wear perhaps a little too much:
but recently a friend of mine, who happens to be an incredible artist as well, told me about laura flook. she saw her on an episode of oddities and decided she was perfectly narcisse-y. which she is.
i would gladly trollop around in these fancy grown up versions of my favorite kind of dress. shirts too. i'll take them all.
dresses:
b.(bagatelle)
c.(labrador)
d.(empress)
labrador and empress would most definitely be my favorites...in case anyone wants to buy me a belated birthday present.
tops:
e.(danse macabre)
f.(spright)
you must check out her very lemony snicket-ish webiste. i so wish i had the ability to do more than type on this thing because that is really one of the most wonderful web site designs i have come across. not that i would copy it. i'm just saying.
view the full collection here.

Hi Jerry, very cool find. They were really into long capes back then. I love both your photos and a historical look into Fashion is a great take on the theme.
